Overview of Ancient Egypt:
1) Ancient Egypt - flocabulary
When starting a new subject it is important to learn the key terms and concepts that we will be using often. To start our study of Ancient Egypt we will be making our own glossary, by listening to a rap about Ancient Egypt.
YOUR TASK: ( Task One):
a) Read the rap 'Egypt Flocabulary'
b) Are there any unfamiliar words? Make a list in your workbook of twenty words that you don't know the meaning of.
c) Watch the youtube clip 'Egypt Flocabulary'. We will watch it twice as a class together.
d) Now put a tick next to the words you think you know the meaning of. Put a cross next to the ones you don't.
e) Go to the Flocabulary website by clicking here.
f) Click on each of the blue sentences. Read the text and write down three bullet points for each explanation that you read. Write these in your exercise book.
g) Now go back to your list of twenty words. Do you now know the meaning of all of them? If not put a
second cross next to them and write them below and submit them through this form:

Ancient Egypt was an ancient civilisation that began around the Nile River , when people from Africa, Palestine and Syria began to settle along the river. They lived along the river so they could enjoy the benefits that the fertile banks of the river brought.

3) When was Ancient Egypt?
Ancient Egypt is the oldest civilisation on our planet. It began about 5000 years ago when people from Africa, Palestine and Syria began to settle along the Nile River. The Nile river provided so much food that their population was able to grow and they developed a civilisation, including complex forms of art, science, religion and government.
